Australia captures most wanted man

Australia's most wanted man has been captured.

Police found Malcolm Naden holed up in a mountain cabin on Thursday.

He had been on the run for seven years, during which time he lived in the wilderness.

The man is an Aboriginal bush survival expert - but he's also a murder suspect.

The 38-year-old survived for years by breaking into empty, isolated farmhouses to gather supplies before returning to remote and inaccessible bushland.

But on Thursday, police surrounded a house in the rugged Barrington Tops a few hours drive north of Sydney.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) COMMISSIONER, NEW SOUTH WALES POLICE, ANDREW SCIPIONE, SAYING:

"This man is a master bushman He has been in this area for a number of years. He knows it better than the back of his hand. The conditions we encountered were atrocious."

The suspect made a dash to escape, but was taken down by a police dog named Chuck.

He is suspected of murdering his cousin in 2005 and has been questioned about an assault on a 15-year-old girl.

He was also wanted for the attempted murder of a police officer.
