Russell Brand arrested in New Orleans
Russell Brand has been booked and charged for simple criminal damage in New Orleans.
A photographer accused the British actor of grabbing his cell phone and tossing it through a window.
The comic defended himself with his typical Brand of humor on his Twitter page saying: "Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iPhone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory."
The comedian has had numerous run-ins with the law.
Last year, he was deported from Japan because of his criminal history when trying to visit his then wife Katy Perry during her concert tour.
And in 2010, he was arrested for an alleged attack on a paparazzo at a Los Angeles airport.
Brand's spokesperson could not be reached for comment.
