Wounded Syrians mark uprising anniversary

Despite their injuries these Syrians remain defiant as they mark one year of uprising against their government.

This hospital in Lebanon has received hundreds of wounded who were smuggled across the border.

They say they can't seek treatment in Syria because security forces raid hospitals in search of dissidents.

Some said victory would not come easily, as President Bashar al-Assad's forces appeared to be regaining control of the main rebel areas.

''I wish victory for Syria. It has all the support of the wounded and the refugees in Lebanon, and we congratulate them on the anniversary. And we are ready to wait one or two or more years for the victory, no matter what happens.''

Special envoy Kofi Annan is due to brief the UN Security Council on Friday about his talks in Damascus and proposals to end the violence which has reportedly killed at least 8,000 and forced 230,000 to flee the country.
