The Sakurajima volcano in southern Japan erupted multiple times during Monday and Tuesday (March 12 and 13).

It is spewing hot rocks and ash but the Japanese Meteorological Agency said there was no major damage in the area.

The agency raised its warning level earlier this month after signs of increased seismic activity.

It is keeping its warning level at three out of five.

The volcano is located in Kagoshima prefecture.

Sakurajima resumed activity in 1955 and has been active ever since. It is one of the nation's most active volcanoes.
