Britain's Prince Harry launched his seven-day tour of the Caribbean in Belize, his first solo official overseas visit as part of the celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of her coronation in 1962.

Belize is a former British colony and a member of the Commonwealth of Nations.

The young royal attended a colourful street party in Belmopan and shook hands with well-wishers who turned out to get a glimpse.

He was accompanied by officials including Governor General Colville Young.

Harry's next port of call will be the Bahamas where he's due to attend mass and a youth festival in Nassau.

After that he's due to head for Jamaica where he is expected to meet Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller and Olympic athlete Usain Bolt.
