Gefilmt am 25.05.09 zwischen Linz am Rhein und Erpel gegenüber der Stadt Remagen.
Filmed at 25.05.09 between Erpel and Linz at the Rhine.
We are here on the right bank of the river Rhine and in the background is the Erpeler Ley. Below that Erpeler Ley are the remains of the Ludendorff Bridge. The famous Bridge of Remagen.
A BR185 from the company ITL is stopping in front of the station Linz in a siding to let a Taurus overtaking in the direktion Koblenz.
At the end a ship from the Netherlands is turning arround. The excarvator on the river bank has filled the ship with Basalt (vulcano stones).
The whole area is full of basalt pits because this big area is full of old vulcans and their remains.
The story of the dozens of little narrow gauge Basalt railways of this are called vulcan-Eifel is an interesting one. Linz had one of those litte railways, too.
Further down the Rhine was the Heisterbacher Talbahn which was another interesting litte Basalt railway.
The ship is turning in direction Netherlands.
Many sea dams of the Netherlands are made of the typical column basalt of the Eifel area.
