The eyes of the fashion world have moved to France, as Paris Fashion Week kicks off.

After wowing fashionistas last season with a show at the Eiffel Tower - Portuguese designer, Fatima Lopes chose to show her collection at the French Army Museum.

She started the Autumn/ Winter ranges on display in the city with a show dedicated to morphology, the biological study of the changing shape and structure of the body.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) PORTUGUESE DESIGNER FATIMA LOPES, SAYING:

"The whole collection is inspired on the human body. The printings are outside and inside the body I've created for the show. And I tried to use degrade (English: degradation) of colours of the red blood and Bordeaux red and different colours of red, nude and black."

Speaking there before the start of her show, to create her look Lopes used fabrics like leather and fox which acted as a second skin.

She also played with proportions such as jackets which were either enlarged or shrunk to emphasize the female form.

Paris Fashion Week is the culmination of the bi-annual fashion events which take place in New York, London and Milan.

There's much more to come too, watch this space for shows by: Chanel, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, to name but a few.
