Egyptian court adjourns NGO trial

Democracy activists enter a cage inside an Egyptian courtroom...defendants in a trial that has threatened ties between Cairo and Washington.

The judge adjourns the trial until April...raising hopes among the non-profit workers that the case could be dropped.

The foreign and Egyptian non-governmental organization workers - including the son of the U.S. transportation secretary and 15 other Americans - are accused of receiving illegal funds from abroad and carrying out political activities unrelated to their work.

The case has underscored tension between the United States and the generals who took power in Egypt when President Hosni Mubarak was overthrown.

Washington officials have said annual military aid to Egypt, worth $1.3 billion, is under threat.
