Betsey Johnson gets funky for Fall

STORY: Betsey Johnson is hearkening back to her hey day - the '60s and '70s where wardrobe-wise, anything goes.

Pointing to a black and hot pink pinstripe suit, the designer lights up.

"That's the suit I wore," Johnson told Reuters backstage before her show on Monday (February 13) at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York.

"Well, we copied it. That's my suit from the '60s. It's in papers from years ago, but yeah it's a lot of my early stuff that I loved."

In her Fall 2012 collection, you'll see a bit of everything - fur, glitter, lots of tulle and an explosion of color.

Models rocked her other looks down the runway from the '60s mod mini skirts to the '70s long and lean dresses and pants with all the faux fur trimmings.

And true to form, the 69-year-old designer followed up her signature cartwheel with the splits, producing cheers and applause from the crowd.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York will continue through Thursday (February 16).
