Herve Leger is all about harnesses

STORY: The Herve Leger signature bandage dress made its way down the runway on Saturday (February 11) at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York.

But designers Max and Lubov Azria experimented with different textures to imitate pleating for Fall 2012, and adorned some of their creations with leather harnesses.

"We started with equestrian mood," said Lubov Azria, who was donning the new bandage, pleated dress.

"And the equestrian details really work the best in the accessories."

The theme was also reflected in the gladiator boots that were paired with some of the looks.

"For the dresses, we really wanted to show the craftsmanship, so we have a lot of tweed bandages that we beaded by hand. There's again creating the whole pleating effect. There's an ombre paint, hand-painted bandages that are applied on this beautiful a-line. There's continuing fringe and there's a little bit more rock and roll in this particular collection," said Azria.

"There's a super edge to it that I really like."

Edgy indeed -- black and white ensembles with leather and fur is enough to make any woman look rock n' roll chic.

Tan, brown and neutral silhouettes added a softer look to the collection.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York will continue through Thursday (February 16). About 90 designers are scheduled to present their Fall 2012 collections in Lincoln Center and other venues around New York City.
