PRESENTED BY TOM MILLETT
Cian Walshe got his first guitar at aged 11 after being advised by his father to invest the ol' confirmation money into Rock n' Roll. The first song Cian learned was Bob Dylan's 'Knocking on Heaven's Door'. It wasn't 'til discovering the joys of Nirvana, RHCP, Pearl Jam and other 90's groups, that Cian really got cracking on guitar playing, signing up for guitar lessons, with local jazz guitarist Mark O'Leary at 13. Cian hooked up with classmates Rob Moylan, Conor Nelligan and Paul O'Brien to form 'Blame'. College saw a change of direction with the formation of 'Freefall'.
After a number of gigs, Freefall disbanded. Cian pursued a bit of travelling, before returning to his native Cork in more recent times. Last year saw the inclusion of 'Hear me out' on the Southern Fried II compilation.
More recently in 2008, 'Grab a Seat' featured on the 'Wednesday Night Music Club' charity CD, which was awarded 4 stars in a review featured in the Evening Echo newspaper.
