A flight from Chicago to Los Angeles had 42 famous passengers.

Boxes of the 2012 Oscar statuettes made the trip ahead of the Academy Awards.

Passengers and crew on board the plane got a chance to hold one of the 13 1/2-inch tall statuettes, which are made of metal and coated in 24-karat gold.

Oscar's celebrations continued at the gate where Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences president, Tom Sherak said that despite the arrival, Oscar was not quite ready for his big night just yet.

SOUNDBITE: Tom Sherak, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences president, saying (English):

"Even though we have the Oscar here, he's truly not dressed yet. He won't be dressed until that plate goes on the front with the name of the winner in the category that wins the Oscar this year."

The Oscars will be given their names at the annual ceremony on February 26.
