Madonna: Super Bowl a "Midwestern girl's dream"

With her worldly superstardom, it may be hard to imagine Madonna growing up a simple Midwestern girl.

But the singer, actress and director from Michigan says she's excited to perform at the biggest sporting event in the United States.

SOUNDBITE: Madonna, saying (English):

"I want to start off this afternoon by saying that I am so excited to be here. This is a Midwesterner girl's dream to be performing at the Super Bowl halftime show."

The Material Girl will perform three old tracks and her new one, "Give Me All Your Luvin'".

The song features pop princesses Nicki Minaj and M.I.A who will also perform at the event on Sunday (February 5).

Appropriately enough, the music video features Madonna dancing with U.S. football players.

The singer dedicated the show to a very special man.

SOUNDBITE: Madonna, saying (English):

"I want to dedicate my show to my father because I was raised in the Midwest and he was the personification of Midwestern values. He gave me the work ethic that I have so if I'm a hardworking girl that never stops its because of him and of all the things I've done in my life this is the thing he's most excited about."

Super Bowl organisers were gun shy after the performance by Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake in 2004.

A so-called "wardrobe malfunction" caused Jackson's breast to fall out of her outfit.

But Madonna promises no such titillation.

SOUNDBITE: Madonna, saying (English):

"Great attention has been paid to my wadrobe. There will be no wardrobe malfunction......promise.

The singer has said she's also working with the Cirque de Soleil and admitted to pre-performance jitters.
