Nigeria's northern town of Damaturu has been a flash-point of attacks by the radical Islamist sect Boko Haram.
Now the town has become a ghost town as government troops move in to squeeze out members of the Islamic sect Boko Haram.
On Saturday President Goodluck Jonathan imposed a state of emergency in parts of Nigeria plagued by a violent Islamist insurgency.
On Christmas Day Boko Haram set off a series of bombs that killed at least 37 people at one church.
Outside the town displaced people receive food and other provisions.
Gun battles between security forces and Boko Haram killed at least 68 people in two days of fighting in Damaturu between December 22 and 23.
