On December 26th, 2004, a tsunami stroke South-East Asia, causing several hundred thousands deaths and displaced populations. In June 2005, PlaNet Finance India launched a reconstruction programme based on economic development through microfinance. This programme, implemented in the fishing village of Seruthur, India, is based on the restart of income generating activities, training to financial discipline for the community and regular access of the population to financial services.
