An Aladdin's cave of stolen jewellery, silver bullion and cash - discovered by police in a Sydney property on Wednesday.
The stolen items are thought to be worth at least six million Australian dollars - the same in US dollars - though the haul is so large that police have not yet counted it all.
SOUNDBITE) (English) NEW SOUTH WALES POLICE, STATE CRIME COMMANDER, MAL LANYON, SAYING:
"That will take some time to catalogue. At this stage, we believe there are owners who are unaware that their property has been stolen."
Police believe the items, which include five guns, were stolen during a string of burglaries targeting wealthy homes in Sydney and Melbourne.
They are now urging all Australians to check their valuables.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) NEW SOUTH WALES POLICE, REGIONAL COMMANDER, KAREN WEBB, SAYING:
"It's important for us. We want to reunite as many owners to their property as we can."
A father and son are currently in police custody in connection with the theft as the investigation continues.
