STORY: Six people were injured on Wednesday (December 21) at a community celebration in Guamo, Colombia, where untrained, often inebriated men face down bulls.
The men, looking for a thrill and a few extra pesos, enter the ring at this yearly celebration in honour of a local patron saint in this small town some 250 miles (400 kms) north of Bogota.
Fueled by liquor and the beats of local folk music, the amateur matadors put on a show, but also put themselves at risk.
According to the website for the anti-bullfighting organization CAS International, Colombia has the second-largest bullfighting industry in Latin America, with some 86 rings.
Bullfighting is legal in Colombia.
