American teenager Kevin Eric Lunsmann was found by villagers walking near Lamitan town almost five months after he was kidnapped by gunmen in the Philippines.
This video of the 14-year-old was released by Philippines officials a day after he turned up.
It's not clear if the boy was released by his captors or escaped from them.
Lunsmann was seized with his mother and a cousin when the gunmen stormed the beachfront house near Zamboanga City where they were taking a holiday.
They were bundled into boats and taken to Basilan Island, a hotbed of the al-Qaeda linked militant group Abu Sayyaf.
Lunsmann's mother was released in October and his cousin the following month.
Western governments have issued warnings against travelling in the southern Philippines where Islamist militants and criminal gangs operate, and kidnap for ransom is common.
