Mexico's navy found 1.2 tonnes of marijuana in an abandoned boat in the Gulf of California.
An aerial patrol spotted the boat, which was was stranded near Angel de la Guardia island, containing 100 sacks of marijuana.
The Gulf of California is known to be an ideal transit corridor for traffickers moving narcotics north towards Mexico's border with the U.S.
Much of the trafficking in the area is allegedly controlled by Joaquin Guzman, alias El Chapo. He is one of Mexico's most wanted cartel figures.
