STORY: Protesters break into Buenos Aires' city parliament building on Thursday, setting the door on fire as police responded with tear gas and rubber bullets.
Lawmakers were debating controversial legislation over how officials can hire and promote teachers when angry demonstrators attacked the parliament building.
Police tried to disperse protesters, firing rubber bullets from balconies while they dumped water on a fire started at the door.
Protesters, some masked and armed with sticks, lobbed rocks at police.
The new law, which Education Minister Patricia Bullrich said will simplify the hiring of teachers, was passed after heated debate on the floor.
