ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: Pop star Lady Gaga brought Manhattan's Upper East Side to a standstill on Monday (November 21) as she cut a ribbon to signify the opening of her holiday workshop.
Standing in front of a façade that creates the illusion of walking into the mouth of a giant monster-like Lady Gaga, the chart-topper greeting fans with her trademark crawl.
Barneys New York joined forces with the singer and her creative team to produce a one-of-a-kind retail experience filled with over one hundred limited edition products. The specialty shop was made in collaboration with Lady Gaga's creative director Nicola Formichetti and visual and performance artists Eli Sudbrack and Christophe Hamaide Pierson.
Built entirely for her fans, the temporary store will feature everything from magnetic dress-up sets to Gaga masks and snow globes. Sectioned off into eight stations, the 5,500 square feet space houses various art installations and signature artwork designed exclusively for the space. Some of the highlights include pieces developed by Gaga's personal glam squad.
The luxury department store will donate 25 percent of the proceeds from all items sold to the singer's newly formed charity, "The Born This Way Foundation." The organization, which she established with her mother, will focus on youth empowerment and equity by addressing issues like self-confidence, well-being and anti-bullying.
Gaga's Workshop will be open until January 2, 2012.
