Egyptian police break up Tahrir sit-in

Egyptian security forces advance on a sit-in in Cairo's Tahrir Square.
Riot police tear down tents and remove material belonging to around 100 protesters who had remained in the square overnight after protests the previous day.
Minor scuffles broke out between the police and protesters during the operation.
Around 50,000 mainly Islamist protesters had descended on Tahrir to press Egypt's military rulers to transfer power to an elected civilian government.
Parliamentary elections set to begin on November 28 could face disruption if political parties and the government fail to resolve a row over a constitutional proposal that would give the army more power and exempt it from parliamentary rule.
