Al Qaeda leader praises bin Laden
Days with the Imam, Part One - this is the title of a newly released Al Qaeda video by leader Ayman al Zawahiri.
The Egyptian became the leader of the group in June after the killing of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan.
In the half hour long tape, Zawahiri heaps praise upon his predecessor.
SOUNDBITE (Arabic) AL QEDA LEADER AYMAN AL-ZAWAHIRI:
"One of the things one felt most when in the company of Sheikh Osama bin Laden, may he rest in peace, was that man was very loyal to his brothers and he was intent on remembering them in virtue and praising their ways."
Zawahiri first met bin Laden in Pakistan in the mid 1980s when both were supporting guerrillas fighting Soviet forces in Afghanistan.
Zawahiri became bin Laden's right hand man and the brains of much of al Qaeda's strategy for many years.
Now the group's leader, the militant leader ended by saying the video would be followed by more about bin Laden.
It was not clear when this particular video was recorded.
