The Red Tails documentary "Double Victory" was screened at a reception to recognize the contribution of the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II. They are seen as an inspiration to people to see beyond obstacles and look for opportunities.

The Tuskegee Airmen of World War II were recognized with a VIP reception and screening of the movie Red Tails documentary Double Victory.

This is a George Lucas film that gives a chronological account of the Tuskegee airmen.

The reception took place at the Schomburg Center in Harlem New York.

Attendees at this event included Airmen, local business officials, Fans and even former New York Mayor David Dinkins.

[Dr. Rosecoe Brown, Tuskegee Airman]:
"We were the best pilots and we would let everybody know we're the best pilots and the segregation that we face just inspired us to do better so therefore I don't recall what happen I'm gratified to be a Tuskegee Airman to be a fighter pilot and fight for democracy".

[Samuel Wesley Henderson, Tuskegee Airman]:
It makes me feel wonderful that they are honoring us at this late stage but I'm happy about the whole thing".

Patt Terrelongue, President of Tuskegee Airman tri-state New York, of speaks of the importance of reintroducing this movie at this time to world and to the young people.

[Patt Terrelongue, President of Tuskegee Airman]:
"Too many people don't even know that World War II changed the face of this nation. We need to make them aware."

It seems this film has a mission to bridge the gaps of understanding of different generations and even races. The Tuskegee airmen encourage people to see beyond obstacles and use obstacles as opportunities for excellence.

Red Tail is set to open nationwide in January 2012 and stars Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Terrence Howard.
