The German Environmental Award | Made in Germany

Jürgen Schmidt started selling recyclable notebooks to his classmates when he was a child. Today, the 48-year-old is head of memo AG, a climate-neutral mail-order business with more than 400 eco-friendly products on offer.
Schmidt received this year's German Environmental Award in recognition of his firm's philosophy and his life's work. Since 1993, the prize has been awarded to people or companies that make major contributions to environmental protection. With prize money of 500,000 euros, it's the biggest environmental award in Europe. Report by Claudia Laszczak.
