The Taliban says it was behind this deadly suicide bomb attack in the Pakistani city of Karachi.
The bomber drove an explosives-laden car into the home of a senior police official.
The intended target, Senior Superintendent of Police, Chaudhry Mohammad Aslam, survived.
At least eight people were killed.
Six were police officers.
A teacher walking to school and her eight-year-old son who was with her also died.
Aslam says he's had death threats but is defiant.
SOUNDBITE: Chaudhry Mohammad Aslam, senior superintendent of police, saying (Urdu):
"I had received death threats from the Taliban. I want to give them this message through you that I'm not cowed by this cowardly act. I will teach them a lesson that their coming generations will remember. I'm not afraid. Attacking sleeping people is a cowardly act. If they have any courage I'm on the road all the time. They should attack me."
A Taliban spokesman said Aslam had arrested and killed many of its fighters.
He also warned other police officials taking action against Taliban supporters would also be targeted, naming five Karachi police officials on a hit list.
