After the 9/11 attacks, some intelligence officials turned to Britain, saying the country was a 'haven' for Islamic extremists. Radicals used to preach inflammatory messages of hate and violence from London's mosques. Police successfully foiled numerous terror plots planned by radicalised British Muslims and foreign jihadists, but were unable to prevent a large scale suicide attack on London's transport system in 2005.
