Kurds protest in northern Iraq

Hundreds of Kurds took to the streets of the northern Iraqi city of Arbil Wednesday calling on the government to put an end to the shelling of the northern villages of the semi-autonomous Kurdish region by Turkey and Iran.
Protesters carried Kurdistan flags and banners that condemned the attacks against the Kurdish people.

"We condemn the interventions and we are not with the military solution. We oppose and confront all the challenges that will lead our region to reach to a dangerous situation. We are with all the components of our people. Today, Kurdistan people are all united and will have our stances in the coming few days and weeks."
Turkish war planes bombed Kurdish guerrilla positions in Iraq on Sunday while in southeast Turkey insurgents killed two soldiers and two village militia members in separate weekend attacks.
Fighters of the main Kurdish separatist militant group, the Kurdistan Workers Party -- or PKK, operate from camps in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq.
The PKK has said it believes Turkey and Iran are coordinating attacks in the region.
