An 11-year-old child was caught driving a truck on the expressway in eastern China. The boy has been taking turns at the wheel since last year... when the other driver is tired.

Chinese traffic police were shocked to find an unlikely person driving a truck on the expressway in Shaoxing City in east China's Zhejiang Province.

On Monday morning, traffic police spotted a truck wobbling on the expressway.

[Ding Jian, Traffic Policeman]:
"We stopped the truck, checked, and found that the driver was not the one I saw at first. They are not the same person. Then we separate them to interrogate and found they have changed their seats."

Both drivers are wearing slippers... and one of them is just 11-years-old.

The boy driver had been driving for several hours before police spotted the truck running unsteadily on the expressway.

The other driver, Li Xilin, told police that Wei had started driving together with him last year. The boy always drives the truck when Li is tired.

[Xiao Wei, Drives a Truck]
"I have not learned driving. I once drove the motorcycle at home."

Wei has driven without a license, but traffic police are unable to penalize him because he's less than 14-years-old.

They will send Wei to his guardian for strict supervision, instead.

But, Li has violated the law for allowing a child to drive his car. Police revoked his driving license and charged a $300 fine.
