Swimmers Set Guinness Record for Crossing Kanas Lake

Four Chinese swimmers set a Guinness World Record on Saturday. It's for successfully crossing the Kanas Lake in China's Xinjiang Province.
After a grueling seven hours, all four swimmers made it through the nearly 15 mile stretch of 50 degree Fahrenheit water.
At more than 4,200 feet above sea level, less oxygen also posed another challenge for the swimmers.
[Zhang Jian, Coach of the Swimmers]:
"Based on their current conditions, the swimmers ought to swim a little bit slowly so that they can adapt themselves to the water temperature."
Each swimmer was accompanied by a guide in a canoe. The guide was responsible for ensuring no detours were taken and also to keep an eye out for any fabled sea monsters that are famous for appearing every so often in the region.
Thankfully, the four swimmers didn't meet with too many hazardous obstacles and safely finished the feat.
