The second stage of the GORE-TEX® Transalpine-Run 2008 may well turn out to be the toughest of the eight days of extreme running across the Alps. The racers have about ten kilometres of relatively flat terrain to warm

up for what can only be described as a gruelling series of climbs. Each of the five ascents will be followed by equally steep descents that

accumulate not just to lots of lactic acid but to no less than 2,794 meters of vertical gain over a whooping distance of 48,56 kilometers. The obvious stage theme for tomorrow will be: 'Mittersill or bust... heavy legs

guaranteed'.
