Arabic-Web-Laos pins hopes on eco-tourism

Laos is striving to limit the effects of mass tourism by encouraging an eco-friendly approach. The communist country was largely cut off from the world until 20 years ago. Visitor numbers have risen from 5,000 in 1991 to more than two million in 2009. It's hoped Nam Ha National Park in the north of the country will serve as a model to maximise the benefits of tourism while ensuring the country maintains its natural and cultural wealth.
