The board and members of the chorus "The Melody of Love Indonesia" were at the Usmar Ismail Hall in Jakarta on Sunday... celebrating their second birthday.

The celebration featured a charity concert with 12 choirs and dance performances.

The show also included the Penta Boyz band, and performances from a number of people with physical disabilities.

The concert raises funds for a number of nursing homes, orphanages and other social institutions in Jakarta.

The chorus was formed in 2009 with a focus on the arts and socializing.

Most of its members are elderly ethnic Chinese who love to sing... and who were interested in practicing traditional Indonesian folk songs.

Indonesian Chinese have only been allowed to express themselves openly in public since 2000... due to one of the country's former dictators who forbade Chinese from having a public identity.

Now they are making the most of their freedom of expression.

Ethnic Chinese make up just five percent of the country's almost 240 million population.
