On April 18, 2009 the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis hosted its 5th Anniversary Gala at the Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis. The gala benefited the museum’s exhibition and education programming and honored St. Louis artists Tom Friedman and the late Ernest Trova. In honor of the museum’s five years of existence as the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, supporters, major favorite Contemporary artists, and art-world leaders from across the country joined together to celebrate the museum’s success and to raise funds for the museum’s important initiatives. The 5th Anniversary Gala was a star-studded evening. ABC’s Deborah Roberts was the emcee of the festivities. Roberts was the emcee with her husband, Al Roker of NBC-TV’s “Today Show” five years ago at the Contemporary’s inaugural gala. Guest auctioneer for the evening was Aileen Agopian: Director of Contemporary Art, Phillips de Pury & Company. There was fine cuisine, fabulous wine, a live benefit auction, and a toast to the honorees of the gala, Tom Friedman and Ernest Trova.
