US coffee chain Starbucks has unveiled its new, nameless logo in China.

Along with Paris, London and New York, the coffee giant has selected Beijing as one of its four sites to launch the new logo in an effort to move into new areas of growth.

The refreshed logo still features the iconic siren but drops the Starbucks name to mark its 40th anniversary.

President of Starbucks Coffee International John Culver said the company plans to open more than 1000 stores on mainland China.

At the opening ceremony he said: "China presents a great opportunity for us to grow, and what we've said is that over the next several years we will have 1500 stores here on the mainland. And as part of that, we're making the investments today both from a people standpoint and as well as from an infrastructure standpoint as we look to grow,"

The firm currently has around has 400 stores on the mainland and 800 in the Greater-China region.
