The 13th annual Independent Games Festival, a celebration and encouragement towards the independent developers within the gaming industry, is running its course this week. Among the games nominated this year are Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Bit.Trip.Runner, and the now-infamous Minecraft, but until the winners are announced, we thought it'd be fun to reminisce about last year's winners! PlayDead Studios, the team behind Limbo, was awarded at the previous IGF in two categories; Technical Excellence and Excellence in Visual Art. Dino Patti, Managing Director of PlayDead, explains the inspiration for the game's visuals as well as how long it took from the game to ascend from a concept to a full-fledged game.
