Red Carpet favourite designer to be honoured

The work of late fashion designer Alexander McQueen is being put on show at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The celebrity favourite, whose designs are often spotted at showbiz red carpet events, committed suicide in February last year.

The Prime Minister's wife, Samantha Cameron was at the Ritz hotel in London for the news conference about the new exhibition in NYC.

Mrs Cameron said she was "thrilled" at the news, which she described as a "recognition of British fashion".

Anna Wintour, the editor of American Vogue, was also there along with designer Stella McCartney.

The exhibition, called Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, will be open from May 4 until the end of July.
