UK Prime Minister David Cameron has a new addition to his Downing Street residence. Larry the Cat has arrived to take care of some unwanted rodents roaming around the premises. Let’s take a look.

This cat has a new home.

But he’s not just any cat, he’s Larry the cat, and he’s been deployed for a special mission.

To get rid of massive rats that roam near the UK Prime Ministers Residence.

The rats were caught on camera scuttling down Downing Street while correspondents form local TV networks reported live on camera.

Arriving at Downing Street is quite the transition for Larry, who was taken in by Battersea Dogs and Cats Home as a stray.

He was recruited specifically for catching rats, but Prime Minister David Cameron's young children are believed to have been in favour of seeing him move in.

Battersea says Larry shows all the signs of having the hunter instinct needed for the job.

[Claire Horton, Chief Executive, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home]:
"I tell you what - he's a big cat is Larry and I'm not so sure that the Downing Street rat is going to be around for an awful lot longer."

And he’ll get right to catching those rats, right after he’s had a catnap.
