Windows that don't shut properly, radiators whose temperature can't be regulated - homes are responsible for 30 percent of Ukraine's energy consumption. A project underway in Kiev provides an efficient alternative. Better insulation and solar units help minimize energy waste. The project is designed to serve as a model for other construction companies and architects. Experts from the GIZ German Agency for International Cooperation are advising the Ukrainian team working on the building about energy-efficient construction and technologies.
