No relief for the displaced people of Dera Bugti

Balochistan, February 07: Military action in 2005 affected civilians of Dera Bugti in Balochistan. Over 150,000 people were displaced, who are now leading a miserable life in Sindh and Punjab provinces. 5 years have passed and now they want to return home. However, the Pakistan government does not want the Bugti tribe to reunite at Dera Bugti and the army and paramilitary forces continue to occupy the area. The security forces are still engaged in door-to-door operations often harassing unarmed civilians. The atrocities in Dera Bugti began during the dictatorship of President Musharraf and are continuing during the so-called democratic regime. Dera Bugti remains a “no go area” since the assassination of Nawab Akbar Bugti in 2005.
