At 33 years of age, Nacho Figueras is arguably one of the world’s finest polo players, and a dashing one at that. He’s sporty, passionate, and very calm in character. He’s known by many simply as Nacho. We connected with Nacho during his recent trip to Melbourne, Australia, where he presented the ‘Man of Style Award’ at the GQ Men of the Year Awards, and where he also played polo for the Veuve Clicquot team at the ‘Paspaley Polo in the City’ series in Albert Park.

[Nacho Figueras, Polo Player]:
“What I love most of all about the game are the horses and then the game itself.”

Tall, dark and handsome could sum up Nacho Figueras in three words. But what’s missing in this equation is his quest as an equestrian – he loves to ride horses and play polo.

[Nacho Figueras, Polo Player]:
“I think it is a very fun game to play and watch.”

Dubbed the David Beckham of the polo field, Nacho is considered to be one of the best players in the world.

It’s no wonder Ralph Lauren was quick to pick Nacho in 2005 to be the face of their Black Label Collection and the World of Polo fragrances.

[Nacho Figueras, Polo Player]:
“I’ve made a mission in my life to spread polo, to bring up the awareness of polo, and make it more popular. so I’ve been spending a lot of time doing that.”

Nacho’s journey has been long and straight, not straying much from his childhood dream. He grew up outside Buenos Aires, Argentina, which is considered the polo capital of the world.

[Nacho Figueras, Polo Player]:
“Argentina is a horse country. There are lots of horses and access to horses there, so it obviously makes it easier when you have the opportunity of riding horses and playing”.

Nacho was an avid equestrian by the age of 9, and at only 17 he began his professional polo career. He now trots the globe as captain and a player for the Black Watch Polo team.
