The Solidarity – Solidarność – is a symbol of freedom recognised worldwide. The beginning of the Polish independent movement intertwines with the strikes of Gdańsk Shipyard workers in August 1980. The fall of communism in Europe nine years later followed the events. Ever since then the Shipyard struggles with the free market setting.
Today the Polish and the French National Audiovisual Institutes (NInA & INA) share their archives documenting the story, as well as audio and video material recorded in the Shipyard few years ago depicting another transformation.
