Lake Lure of the Dragon Boat Festival, Lake Lure NC

The dragon boat race started here, this is our third year. It began with four sponsors coming together, each one purchased a boat, the purpose of our event is to raise money for children’s charities. We select the beneficiaries; they cover Buncombe, Polk, Henderson and Rutherford counties. You have the gorge that rises up to 4,000 ft in the back drop then you are about 1,000 ft at the lake front. So it’s a beautiful place to do this. A valley in between that folks can have a festival, get food, and watch the whole race while you are enjoying the beautiful sites around you.
