The Tunisian town of Kasserine is in shock. The riots that unseated President Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali this month claimed many lives here; at least 24 people died and 38 were injured, the highest number in any Tunisian town affected by the discontent - but an inquiry is under way amid fears that the true number could be as high as 60. On January the 10th, riot police tried to disperse mourners attending the funeral of a youngster killed the previous evening, using tear gas bombs and sniper fire.
