Climate protection demands global cooperation. The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation grants stipends to 15 young executives from emerging and developing nations. One recipient is Kristy Pena Munoz. The Mexican environmental engineer wants to generate energy from wastewater. To date, sewage sludge in Mexico has been simply dumped in landfills, where it releases huge amounts of harmful greenhouse gases. At Stuttgart University, Kristy will conduct research into how these gases can be converted into environmentally-friendly substances.
