JR - Unframed Project in Vevey
Unframed est un projet urbain inédit créé pour la ville de Vevey, en coproduction entre le festival Images et le Musée de l’Elysée. C’est une première dans la carrière de JR: il s’est immergé dans les collections du Musée de l’Elysée. À travers une démarche de réinterprétation et de décontextualisation, il revisite certaines œuvres de Robert Capa, Gilles Caron, Helen Levitt et d’autres. En placardant sur les façades qui lui servent de cimaises, la ville se métamorphose en gigantesque musée à ciel ouvert.
Unframed is a new urban project created for the city of Vevey, co-produced by the Images festival and the Musée de l'Elysée in Lausanne. It is a first in the career of JR: he has immersed himself in the collections of the Musée de l'Elysée. Through his approach of reinterpretation and taking out of context, he has revisited certain works by Robert Capa, Gilles Caron, Helen Levitt and others. In putting up on the facades that now serve as picture rails, the city is transformed into a gigantic open-sky museum.
