A 67-year-old man crashed his car through the gate of primary school in Taiwan as students were arriving, injuring himself and four students.

A surveillance video showed Wu Chuan Ming driving his car through the gate of Puchien Primary School.

The car appeared to knock down four children and at least one student got trapped underneath the vehicle.

When teachers and parents tried to stop the driver, he allegedly ignited a petrol container, inflicting burns on his face and hands.

Four students, aged six to 12, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Wu was later sent to a hospital, unconscious and suffering from burns. Police did not comment on the motive of the attack.
