TRUMPET LESSON MOUTHPIECE MYTHS-Double C played on Bach 1C

Remember your old band director (probably a non-brass player ) who use to insist if you weren't hitting high notes with a good Bach 1 1/2 C or Bach 3C, you were probably cheating with a shallow cup mouthpiece?
Don't ya just hate people like that because you ended up frustrated and feeling bad about yourself.
But, you did hear professional trumpet players busting out paint peelin' Double C's, right?....... and maybe thought they were playing dutifully on a Bach 1 1/2 C, but couldn't be sure:
NO, THEY WERE NOT PLAYING ON BACH mouthpieces!!!!
But the top trumpet players noted for extreme upper register trumpet playing could play high on a Bach mp if they wanted, but why would they?
Playing charts like Hey There or playing Lead Trumpet on Rob Mcconell's TO while using a bach 1 1/2 C mp would make life much harder than it needs to be especially if you do it for a living on a regular basis!
