Biogas - A New Source of Energy for Nepal | Global 3000

In Nepal, domestic biogas plants are revolutionizing the lives of the rural population. Biogas cuts down on CO2 emissions, saves firewood and lightens the load for small farmers in the countryside. The Nepalese government is pushing forward with its plan to have 7,500 biogas facilities up and running by the end of the year.
In Nepal's densely-populated lowlands, forests are in decline. Up to now wood has represented a vital source of energy for the people who live off the land. Biogas is one solution. Just one domestic biogas plant can save massive amounts of firewood and slash CO2 emissions by more than 4 tonnes in the span of just one year. The World Wide Fund for Nature is helping Nepal make the switch.
