Pamela Anderson has joined an elite group of speakers including Winston Churchill the Dalai Lama and Kermit the Frog after talking about vegetarianism at Oxford Union.

The former Baywatch star began her talk with the screening of a documentary called Glass Walls, narrated by Paul McCartney

Forty three-year-old Anderson has launched a poster campaign for animal rights group Peta in which she wears just a bikini, with her body parts marked to mimic a butcher's diagram.

Speaking before audience with members of the student body, Anderson said she was very honoured to be appearing as guest of the debating society.

She also revealed she was asked to perform on Strictly Come Dancing - before show bosses withdrew the invite.

She was due to go on the programme's festive edition until it was decided the contestants would all be from the UK.
